Summary Short children's story that explains death in the context of water bugs that become dragonflies. As water bugs climb the lily stalk they leave the pond never to be seen again. One curious water bug vows to return to the pond to explain what happens and why they leave the pond. However, once the water bug becomes a dragonfly it cannot return to the bottom of the pond. So it realises it will have to wait until the other water bugs become dragonflies too to understand what happened to it and where it went.
